Information on Divorce in the State of Florida

In the Florida courts, a divorce is officially called a

"dissolution of marriage." You can file and complete

your own divorce/dissolution without an attorney if

you and your spouse can come to an agreement about

how any children will be cared for and how your

property will be divided.

Florida Residency Requirements

At least one spouse from the marriage must have lived

in Florida for at least six months prior to filing for

divorce.

Location Of Spouse Unknown

If you do not know where your spouse currently lives,

you cannot file an uncontested divorce.

Please go to information requested page and we will

contact you with information on how to proceed.

Issues To Be Resolved

If there are issues that need to be resolved between

the parties, you cannot file an uncontested divorce.

Please go to information requested page and we will

contact you with information on how to proceed.

Grounds For Divorce

Florida is a "no fault" divorce state. To file for divorce

all that is required is that the marriage be "irretrievably

broken."

Filing Your Florida Divorce

The Divorce & Bankruptcy Center  makes filing an

uncontested divorce in Florida fast and easy.

The steps for filing your divorce with Divorce &

Bankruptcy Center are as follows:

  • Complete the interview
  • Divorce & Bankruptcy Center  reviews your answers,
  • prepares your documents, and mails them or
  • transmits them to you electronically with detailed
  • instructions.
  • You review and sign the documents, then file the
  • Petition, Marital Settlement Agreement, and other
  • required documents at your Florida County District
  • Courthouse.
  • A judge completes your divorce by reviewing your
  • documents and signing the Judgment.

All documents needed for your divorce are included.

Division of property, child parenting plan (including child

support, visitation and custody), alimony, and more are

covered. Divorce & Bankruptcy Center uses the forms

approved by the Florida Supreme Court and guarantees

that your documents will be accepted by the court or your

money back.

Unlike other "On Line Divorce Companies"  if you are in South

Florida, you can visit any one of our four offices and meet the

people who prepare your documents.  Get the assistance of a

Family Mediator if your divorce turns contested.  You can talk

to us on the phone if you have questions.  We are local, we

only provide document service in the state of Florida.
